Best Bang Showtime...

It’s been a while since the last time I write about my system. Ever since then there are a lot of things happened to my system. I call it the best bang for the buck system and I dare “Hi Fi” and “expensive” products out there which sound like crap. This system can be here today because a lot of thought and lesson from The Reference, Djon Welly. He is the man. hehe…

I drew a diagram to illustrate my system configuration. It appears very simple and less attractive but there are lots of items that work behind the scene just like magic and it just for our community. hehe… For those pitiful people and the one who only lick for great physical appearance, this is not for you. The story behind this diagram starts from the source. Before, I used Phillips dvd player as transport. Although it was remarkable natural compare to the price, it simply can’t fulfill my passion for great fusion playing. Circling around looking here and there for budget transport, here I picked Pioneer than Denon. Two reasons for that, first and everything, the sound character fits best for rock and fusion. The second reason which ain’t a reason after all is it gives me great savings. Hehehe… And that saving enables me to reclocking and dejitter the miniDAC. There are few more spare parts changes –censored – haha…. Pioneer is simply provides much more smoother, detail and accurate playback. I, astonished couldn’t believe change in transport (from cheap one to a little less cheap one) will give such tremendous improvement.

Next, move to speaker cable. In single wire configuration, I replaced original jumper with custom one with silver solder somewhere between them. But it’s time for bi-wire. At the first hand, I combine spellbinder and dreamcaster. The music is just so rich. It’s not like you look to big pore cloth anymore. Now, everything is so full and loaded. In condition of shortage, I have to downgrade a little bit, eliminate 1 pair of conductor per channel. It still sounds much richer than single and only slightly different to dreamcaster.

On electric source, I used 4 custom cords which all of them have different length. And why is that? Hehehe…there are something on the AC male plug (G) and there are also something inside IEC plug. Junction between speaker stand and speaker, there are also something. On the speaker itself, beside that it has been modified by Djon, I put a little something too to fit in the cubicle room. For the placement of all equipments, I also arrange something in the space. For all interconnections, I use the super best bang one. The Blue and The purple. I must have mentioned their name somewhere before. hehehe… You thought everything is in the diagram but there is lots of “something” rite hehehe…

I have a chance to use Nordost Blue Heaven Rev. 2. Simply great IC and it’s actually blue in conductor...cool

I plug it once and don’t wanna to remove it but I have to because it hasn’t been paid. Hehe…During the test I realize this blue heaven must hasn’t release all its potential. Logically, comparing the price-performance. Then come to sense that another IC still likes, hmm, 10 classes below it. So why bother. Anyway, I calculate this system price and it just around 12 million. The price is for everything including the accessories. This system still leaves more than dozen options for upgrade. The digital and analog IC, the miniAAC, the power section for miniMAX, the transport, and still many more. If a really eager to upgrade whole thing exclude the cable, hmm… not more than 14 million I guess. Still cheaper than any other one.

So, if you wanna build a best bang budget home audio system, don’t look to those “Hi Fi” magazines and those “Hi Fi” mouth friends and also “Hi Fi” stores. Find the true music path. Find your own music feel. Mine is stop here, because the next one is a leap to the true Hi Fi system, the Audio Note (yesterday I heard AN-K Lx and Spe with OtoLine PP and Meishu Line SE all day, they drive me crazy hehe…).
